So far so good; from the onset of Islamic reign through the caliphate period to the present state of Muslims locally and internationally, knowledge had never been taken with levity, in fact, its search light had always been held high. Since the advent of the prophecy of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), it was quite started with words commanding knowledge and seeking to the last breath. The Prophet left no stone un-turned as regard the issue of knowledge.
From the sayings of the companions of the holy Prophet, it was narrated that “we first learnt Quran, thereafter, we learnt the faith; in that regard, we were highly place in faith.” How can the Muslims of today achieve the so called lost glory when they have neglected the hard earned pearls inherited from our predecessors? How can it be when Muslims are left only with the packaged austerity boycotting what Allah has indeed blessed them with. Almighty Allah said, “Won't you ponder about the Quran, had it been it was from anyone aside Allah, you will definitely find in there, so much discrepancies”. (Q4, 82).
To narrow it down to our immediate environment, comparing Islamic education to the Western education; the similitude of which is like West to East. The kind of complexity/adversity that Islamic education encountering is highly endemic albeit the presence of Muslim scholars. It won't be a surprise when (this so-called) Islamic educations totally go extinct in our education system due to our laxity. Where does the problem lies when Allah has given us a scripture where in there is no civilization/technological advancement that does not have Quranic undertone. Even if this problem has been in existence for centuries back, why are we not standing up to the task and rejuvenate the whole system? Perhaps our challenges are non-compliance of our faith with the system of governance in our country. Would that be the excuse we'll tender in front of Allah on the day of recompense? Oh! Brothers in faith, this is quite a very unreasonable excuse.
By and large, if the current system doesn't allow Muslims to be well versed in their religion teachings, then why are we still folding our arms watching the destruction and decaying of the future of Muslims. It is a pity when you visit conventional schools where huge amount of money is being paid as tuition fee and you hardly find anything Islamic in their curriculum and still Muslim children are there. What do you expect from these children in the nearest future? Except total ignorance about the reason why they are on earth!
Hybrid curriculum might sound familiar to our hearing but this is totally an absolute rare package. It'll be a wonder if Muslim teenagers before leaving secondary school have comprehended all necessary understanding of religion equivalent to what a full time Arabic and Islamic student would have acquired aside being highly efficient, having a high intelligence quotient, and being exposed to virtually all aspects that the life entails.
At Al-Medinah International College, it has always been our long-term focus to see children of Muslims being highly versatile in Arabic, Quran, Islamic jurisprudence, History, etc so that the current level of ignorance among Muslims world be drastically reduced to the bearest minimum in the nearest future.
